Photographer Line Up

I've been wanting to post this for a while but hesitated many times because I follow A LOT of photographers and to narrow down the ones I read regularly feels a little like picking teams for kickball (which was never a good experience for me). In light of the holidays, and everyone's good spirit and nature of forgiveness this time of year I went ahead and bit the bullet. Let me just put a disclaimer out though, this list just tips the iceberg, I read MANY blogs on a regular basis and if you are feeling left out please understand I just am breaking the surface.

I have learned an incredible amount about photography by just reading/admiring. Not to say that you can just read and then walk outside and be a master at what you want to create BUT I do need believe that by reading, continuous education, and admiring you can give yourself a bit of a boost. I've probably said this 100x but there are so many wonderful/helpful/inspirational people in this industry that I have just latched on to and look forward to reading their posts and admiring their beautiful work! This post is just showing off a few of them! Enjoy!

My Big 3 Inspirations:
I've attended or watched all three of these people via a hands on workshop (Katelyn James), an online session (Justin & Mary), or nationwide tour that brought her to the area (Jasmine Star). Their hearts are HUGE and they have so much to share to help others not only get ahead of where they were when they started but also skip the mistakes they have made and push forward.
Katelyn James - Katelyn is our photographer, does that make me biased, maybe? BUT I wouldn't have hired her if I didn't love her work, trust her judgement, and adore her personality/blog (read: maybe I want to be her friend). Weird? Maybe a little, but that's how Katelyn runs her business. Her readers and brides want to be her friend and that's what makes you love her and want to hire her. Not only that but she has some amazing posts on productivity, tips/tricks, and she hosts workshops! Talk about well rounded!

Justin & Mary - Justin and Mary post AMAZING things about their business that are incredibly insightful! Their style is totally different than mine and their understanding of light and flash is just incredible! Not to mention their writing is prolithic. I even just watched their showit live session yesterday (I missed the previous two days) and was given so much uplift (maybe a even little kick in the butt) from just those few short hours!

Jasmine Star - LOVE Jasime Star, I was so giddy and thrilled when she came to Washington DC on her tour last year and was so thankful to be able to attend. I love reading about her life, her dog, and her work. Absolutely jaw dropping, she never ceases to amaze me!

This next list is by no means any less frequently read or looked for during my blog reading time. Whether it's about their life, lessons, or client interactions and sessions I look forward to reading these blogs on a regular basis because they are interesting people with inspirational stories. They have each shown to me (at least through reading their blogs) that they care about their clients and fellow photogs.

Anyone notice a trend? If you guessed/thought/already noticed all of these photographers use their names for their businesses. I think this is awesome, look at all of them putting their own personal name out there. They all also having something else in common...they are all about their client's experience and the relationships they build through the photography community! LOVE THIS! I aspire to be more like all of these amazing people, not just in my understanding of photography (because I certainly have a long way to go there) but in their business models and love for community and clients.

Happy Thursday!! Just a few more short days until Christmas (hence the bokeh tree and Starbucks ornament)!!
